Darleen Druyun
Darleen A. Druyun was born on November 7, 1947. Druyun did her graduation from the Chamindale University of Honolulu. She also did the executive education program at Harvard University at the Kennedy School of Government. Darleen A Druyun is a former United States Air Force Official and a former Boeing Executive.Druyun was sentenced to nine months of jail for corruption regarding the Tanker Program in October 2004.
In May 2003, the USAF (United States Air Force) announced its plan to lease 100 tankers to replace the old ones. This also allowed it to own the aircraft at the end of the 10 year long lease. However the contract was revised after the critics argued that it would be cheaper to outright buy the aircrafts. However the whole contract was frozen and investigations were begun following the allegations of corruption against Druyun who by that time had moved to Boeing. Druyun pleaded guilty to knowingly inflating the price of the contract in order to favor her future employer. She also admitted to having passed information regarding the competing bid by the rival group Airbus to Boeing.
In October 2004, she was fined $5000 and sentenced to nine months of jail. She was given three years of supervised release and additional 150 hours of community service.
Darlene Druyun was released from prison on September 30, 2005.
Boeing ended up paying $615 million fine for their involvement. Its CFO Michael Sears was released involuntarily and was sentenced to four months of prison in February 2005. Boeing CEO Phil Condit also resigned.
